The magnificent Mughal gardens of Srinagar in Kashmir Valley

The natural beauty of Kashmir is being accentuated by manmade artwork under Himalayan Mountains. Mughal gardens set around the lustrous lakes of Srinagar abound greenery and mesmeric landscapes to woo the eyes of the sightseer. Built by the Mughal rulers, these gardens pervade semblance of love and romance.

Shalimar Bagh near Dal Lake was built by Emperor Jehangir to impress his wife Nur Jehan. Water terraces formed from several channels embellish the green landscape of Shalimar. Kashmir flowers bloom in their flashy colors and charismatic Chinar trees sway in the mild breeze.

Another garden named Nishat near to Shalimar Bagh had been the scenic shot for several Bollywood movies. Laid out by Asif Khan, the brother of Nur Jehan, Nishat garden is the excellence of Mughal architecture. Under the Zabarwan range, Nishat garden is landscaped with twelve water terraces and brilliant hued flowers with Chinar trees towering around.

The royal spring garden named Chashme Shahi built by Ali Mardan, the Governor of Emperor Shah Jehan near Dal Lake also attracts tourists with its ravishing water terraces, aqueduct and waterfalls in Zabarwan range.
